Oct 14 2025

LCS Development is excited to announce the October 20, 2025, groundbreaking for a major community expansion and renovation project at Friendship Village Kalamazoo.

The expansion will add 76 new independent living residences and a state-of-the-art, 40-bed long-term skilled care center, designed as two intimate neighborhoods to provide personalized, resident-centered care. The project also includes a major renovation of the community center, which will introduce new dining venues - a cocktail lounge, fine dining with an expedition kitchen, and casual dining—for expanded lifestyle choices.

“We’re thrilled about the upcoming expansion and renovations,” said Tim Cain, Executive Director, Friendship Village Kalamazoo. “These projects are thoughtfully designed with both current and future residents in mind. We’re building a brand-new, state-of-the-art skilled nursing center, investing significantly in our existing amenity spaces—including enhanced resident dining venues—updating Woodside Assisted Living, and adding 76 beautiful new independent living residences. These strategic investments will strengthen FVK’s ability to fulfill our mission of providing vibrant senior living within a life care community for many years to come.”

“We’re honored to be partnering on the development of this visionary project,” said Nick Herrick, Vice President, LCS Development. “Supporting the addition of independent living residences, two state-of-the-art skilled care neighborhoods, and a reimagined community center with elevated dining experiences is a privilege. This expansion reflects a bold commitment to quality, innovation, and resident well-being—and we’re proud to help bring it to life.”
