LCS Development and StoneRidge Senior Living Celebrate Groundbreaking for $72M Community Expansion Project
Jun 15 2026LCS Development and StoneRidge Senior Living, a vibrant Life Plan Community in Mystic, Connecticut, are celebrating the recent groundbreaking for a major expansion project that will add new amenities, 14 assisted living apartments and 54 independent living apartments to the community’s campus.
“Before the first ceremonial shovel was lifted today, we already had commitments for 94 percent of the apartments,” said Scott Doherty, LCS Vice President and Senior Director of Operations Management. “We are thrilled that seniors are excited and motivated to become part of this vibrant and engaging community.”
The new four-story building is designed to support vibrant, active senior living with elevated amenities and engaging gathering spaces including four distinctive dining venues, an art and maker space, multipurpose room, theatre and reflections room, woodworking workshop and more than 4,000 square feet of wellness amenities, including a fitness studio equipped with cardio and weightlifting equipment. The new assisted living apartments will be on the ground level for easy access, and independent living apartments will be on the second, third and fourth levels of the building.
“We’re thrilled to begin this construction that will add new amenities and more residents,” said Pamela Klapproth, Executive Director. “As we lift our shovels today for this ceremonial groundbreaking, it’s a symbolic and exciting new beginning for the 86 residents who will be joining us next year. We look forward to the talents, life stories and rich experiences they will bring that will enhance our entire community.”
The expansion will complete another phase of the StoneRidge master plan. The 32-acre campus currently includes nine connected buildings totaling 472,000 square feet and serves more than 360 residents. Construction is expected to take about 18 months, with the first resident move-ins planned for December 2027.
